Adjustable Gastric Band, also known as Lap Band or Realise Band is considered as the least invasive weight loss surgery. In this, the surgeon places an inflatable band around the upper portion of the stomach thereby creating a small pouch to hold the food. The main aim behind the placement of this band is to restrict the intake of food, since the patient feels complete after the intake of small portions of food and hence, ends up taking a controlled diet.
